"I was quite anxious going into the course as it was something that was completely foreign to me. Brodie and Debbie were great at making me feel at ease. The group as a whole was really supportive and Brodie was a great teacher. He took the time to work with myself and others individually through any points we were struggling with. 100% would recommend, I feel I've gained a very strong base to work from going forward and the reels filmed are ideal to show off to potential employers"

"The Stage & Steel Course was by far the best performance combat course I've done. It's intense, exhilarating and exhausting in the best way. Thanks to Brodie's knowledge and training, I was inspired to find success that I didn't know I had in me. The transformation after just two days were amazing. Without question, if you have an interest in combat performance, this is the training you need to do."

"The Spada Stage & Steel Course was amazing. I enjoyed every second of it, it was so much fun. Brodie's teaching was superb. The difference between the performances at the start of the weekend compared to the end of the weekend was amazing. It was mindblowing how much all of us improved... I would highly recommend it to anyone considering doing it, regardless of your background, everyone will take away something from it. It's a fantastic weekend"

FAQS
We want to encourage those who wish to chase their dreams or develop a skill set that they may not necessarily know where to start. Especially as options can be limited in Scotland for what can be considered a niche topic.
We believe Historical European Martial Arts does play a hand in building an authentic, strong foundation for Medieval based weapon choreography as when it comes to performance in front of a stage or screen, it can be an entirely different ball park to know how to apply what is historically accurate but also being aware of what looks good on camera.
We want to offer an introduction into choreography, movement and skills where you can be guided by an experienced professional.
Brodie Toriati not only teaches Historical European Martial Arts as the founder and lead instructor of Spada HEMA but he has worked in the Film & TV industry for the past decade, specialising in period films, using the very skills he'll be teaching from his acting and stunt performance roles on film productions such as Netflix, Disney and Universal to name a few.
This course is open to all over 18 years old. No requirements needed. If you're interested, you can sign up.
Pre-existing health and injuries must be advised prior as a disclaimer will also need to be completed.
You can pay for the workshop in full for £100.
The upcoming workshop will run on Saturday 12th September, 2026.

Four different weapons provided
Authentic techniques adapted for stage and screen
